Angiologie / Gefässkrankheiten
Angiology (the study of blood vessels) is a sub-specialty and the newest branch of internal medicine that deals with vascular diseases. It focuses on the development, epidemiology, diagnosis, conservative and interventional therapy, rehabilitation and prevention of diseases of the arteries, veins and lymphatic vessels. Early detection of vascular diseases plays an important role in prevention, and serious consequences can often be avoided. At Gesundheitszentrum Adlergarten, we offer special angiological diagnostics directly on site. The clarification of arterial and venous vascular diseases or injuries using color-coded duplex sonography ("vascular ultrasound") is carried out with modern equipment.
Examination methods
- Clinical and targeted functional clinical examination
- Segmental oscillography
- Venous occlusion plethysmography (VVP)
- Digital photoplethysmography (LLR/DPPG)
- Sonography, pw/cw Doppler sonography and color-coded duplex sonography
For selected problems and questions, intra-arterial catheter angiography with angioplasty (with or without stenting) can be performed as the "gold standard" of arterial vascular diagnostics.
Treatment methods
Endovenous laser therapy
In endovenous laser therapy of varicose veins (truncal veins), a thin ultrasound fiber is inserted into the diseased varicose vein under ultrasound guidance. The laser beam closes the vein in a targeted manner. A strand of connective tissue is formed, which is broken down after a few weeks. This is a service covered by health insurance. Sclerotherapy
In sclerotherapy for spider veins and small varicose veins, a sclerosing agent is injected into the vein with a particularly fine needle, which causes the vein to contract and "stick together". The treatment is performed on an outpatient basis and can remove spider veins without pain or anesthesia. The costs are covered by the patient.
